Parklands & Public Art
The Darwin Waterfront Precinct’s well-maintained parklands, gardens and public art are all open for the public to enjoy.
The parklands are also available to hire for events.
What to expect
Wander along the waterfront promenade that weaves along the edge of the harbour, with seating available for a relaxing and quiet view of the water.
You can also walk, cycle or jog along the sea wall between the contained water and the open harbour.
A walkway and glass-walled lift links the Darwin Waterfront Precinct with the Darwin CBD. It’s an easy five-minute walk via a pedestrian bridge from the end of Smith Street over Kitchener Drive, suitable for wheelchairs.
The Darwin Waterfront is for all to enjoy. Smoking is strictly prohibited throughout the parklands.
Darwin Waterfront is pet friendly, with respect to all visitors and their use of the parklands and amenities.
Events & Permits
Darwin Waterfront is a popular venue for events, weddings and community activities. Annually it presents a range of free events for the community including, school holiday activities, Easter celebrations and a New Year's Eve event. Darwin Waterfront also supports over 50 community groups to present festivals, cultural performances, markets or health and fitness activities.
Darwin Waterfront provides a beautiful backdrop for photographs and video. It is a requirement that for all photography and video filming that a permit is applied for to be granted permission.
