Disabled parking

The precinct has disabled car parking in the following locations:


  • Kitchener Drive multi-storey car park – 5 spaces located on levels 2 and above, close to the lifts.
  • Stokes Hill Road car park A – 3 spaces
  • Jervois Road car park – 2 spaces
  • Stokes Hill Wharf – 3 spaces
  • Anchorage Court – 1 space
  • Fort Hill Parklands - 3 spaces


Patrons with a valid Australian Disability Permit displayed can park at no charge in any bay at the following locations:

  • On street for double the time as signposted
  • Off street for the whole day (Jervois Rd Carpark, Fort Hill Parklands Carpark, Stokes Hill Rd Carpark)


The Darwin Waterfront also accepts valid TPI permits. Permits must be on display.

Kitchener Drive multi-storey car park

Ticketless parking

The Kitchener Drive multi-storey carpark is cashless.

Payment can be made by debit or credit card at the pay machines near the lifts or upon exit at the boom gate.


The Kitchener Drive multi-storey car park’s ticketless parking system uses number plate recognition technology to calculate and charge for parking based on each vehicle’s length of stay.


Parking is free for under two hours.


Motorcycle parking currently unavailable.

Bay sizes have been reduced on levels 1-3 of the Multi-storey carpark to encourage free flow of traffic in both directions and increase pedestrian safety.

As of March 1st 2023, vehicles must be parked behind the yellow line within marked bays.

Fines will apply under Australian Road Rule 169. (Fine: $80)

Parking for large SUV, 4WD and Utility vehicles remains available from level 4 and above.

Street parking

All on-street parking meters at the Darwin Waterfront are cashless and issue digital (paperless) parking sessions.


All meters accept payment via VISA or MASTERCARD.

Alternatively Paystay app payments are accepted across the precinct.


Street Parking is available at the Darwin Waterfront.


Parking fees do not apply for on-street car parks on weekdays outside of 8am-5pm and on weekends. Parking continues to be monitored on weekends and parking infringements will apply to vehicles that park illegally. 


Any issues with the parking meters must be reported to the Darwin Waterfront Corporation by calling 8999 5155 prior to leaving your vehicle. This phone number is also available on all parking meters. Users must then purchase a valid parking ticket at the next nearest available parking meter.


Off-street car parking is available. See list below.

Disabled parking available

  • Parking fees for on-street car parks between 8am and 5pm on weekdays are:

    Patrons with a valid disability parking permit displayed can park on street for double the time as signposted at no charge.

    • Parking on Kitchener Drive is $3 per hour for hour for a maximum of 2hours 
    • Parking on Anchorage Court is $2.50 per hour for a maximum of 2 hours (except for the area adjacent to the Cruise Ship Terminal)
  • Off-street parking
    • Jervois Rd Carpark 8am-5pm | $1p/h or $5 all day
    • Stokes Hill Rd Carpark | 8am-4pm | $2p/h or $6 all day
    • Fort Hill Parkland Carpark | 8am-5pm | $2p/h or $5 all day

    Paid parking between listed hours Monday - Friday. Parking free outside of listed hours and on weekends. 


    Parking continues to be monitored on weekends and parking infringements will apply to vehicles that park illegally.

Fort Hill Parklands

Payment is via PayStay app only at Fort Hill Parklands.


Parking fees apply from 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday. $2 per hour or $5 per day. Parking continues to be monitored on weekends and parking infringements will apply to vehicles that park illegally. 


Any issues with the PayStay parking app must be reported to the Darwin Waterfront Corporation by calling 8999 5155 prior to leaving your vehicle.

Trailer & Caravan Parking

Stokes Hill Wharf parking

Free parking is available at Stokes Hill Wharf for 3 hours, touch 'n' go meters and PayStay app are now available for visitors, making it easier to extend the stay if required.


Parking remains free for the first 3 hours, for patrons wishing to extend their stay a parking fee of up to $10 per hour will apply following the initial three-hour period.


There are fewer car parks during lunch and dinner, so try the Stokes Hill Road Off Street Carpark advertised on this page (500m from the Wharf), the rear Convention Centre carpark or Fort Hill Parklands, also perfect for stays longer than 3 hours.


The Free Waterfront Shuttle Bus operates from 11.30am to 2pm and 4pm to 9pm daily and connects Stokes Hill Wharf to various locations around the Darwin Waterfront.

Darwin Convention Centre parking

The porte cochere at the front of the centre is a drop-off point only, and parking in this area is restricted to Darwin Convention Centre clients. 


The Convention Centre’s basement car park is open 24 hours and charged at a flat rate of $5 per day. 


If you’re parking at the Darwin Waterfront Precinct overnight, this car park is an affordable option at $10 (charging $5 per day). 


Parking at the Convention Centre Rear Carpark

$2 per hour or $6 all day 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

State Square Underground Carpark

As of 1 July 2023, Darwin Waterfront is responsible for the management of the State Square Underground Carpark.


State Square Carpark's ticketless parking system uses number plate recognition technology to calculate and charge parking based on each vehicle's length of stay.

Motorcycle and scooter parking

There is free all-day parking for motorcycles and scooters in designated motorcycle bays on Kitchener Drive (14 spaces), Stokes Hill Road car park A (4 spaces) and Stokes Hill Wharf (8 spaces).


Motorcycles and scooters can also park at the Darwin Convention Centre basement car park, where normal charges apply for both.
