Vietnamese Lantern Festival 2026
Saturday 5 September | 3pm - 9pm
Now in its 5th year, the Vietnamese Lantern Festival is one of the most cherished community festivals celebrated at the Darwin Waterfront.
Proudly organised by the Australian Vietnamese Family Association, this family friendly celebration is an open invitation to everyone to experience the warmth, creativity and traditions of Vietnamese culture.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- A Southern-inspired lantern wonderland - displays in the spirit of old Sai Gon and the Mekong Delta
- Cultural Performances – Traditional and contemporary music, dance and storytelling
- Vietnamese Street Food Stalls – Authentic flavours from South of Vietnam
- Floating Lotus Lantern release – Share a moment of reflection and release your lantern across the water in the Rec Lagoon
- Games for All Ages – Fun for families, kids, and friends
- FIREWORKS finale - End the evening with a bang with a firework display at 9pm

The events will be held on Peninsula Lawns and Palm Grove. The surrounding area is connected by wide concrete pathways.

- Accessible toilets and Changing Places facilities are located in the new Amenities Block in the parklands.
- A water wheelchair is available for free use, simply ask the lifeguards on duty.
