Commercial and residential rates
Pursuant to Section 15 of the Darwin Waterfront Corporation Act (“the Act”), rates are determined annually by the Board of the Darwin Waterfront Corporation.
In respect of rates payable under section 15(3)(a) of the Act, the Corporation must issue rates notices to and collect rates from the relevant owner of land as recorded in the land register established under the Land Title Act. Pursuant to section 15(3)(b) of the Act, the Corporation must issue rates notices to and collect rates from rate payers.

Payment of rates
Your annual rates notice provides details of the total amount payable. The full annual rates amount is due by 31 March each year.
To assist with managing payments throughout the year, Darwin Waterfront Corporation provides suggested instalment dates. These instalments are optional and are provided as a guide only.
Suggested instalment dates
If you prefer to spread your rates payments throughout the year, you can make payment by the following suggested instalment dates:
- 30 September
- 30 November
- 31 January
- 31 March
The suggested instalment amounts are shown on your annual rates notice.
Penalty interest will only apply to rates that remain unpaid after 31 March.
How to pay
You can pay your rates using any of the following methods:
- Online – pay securely through the NTGPayOnline portal using your Customer ID.
- BPAY – use the BPAY biller code and account number shown on your rates notice through your participating financial institution.

Updating your details
If your address or contact details change, please notify Darwin Waterfront Corporation within 28 days.
You can update your details by emailing dwc.rates@nt.gov.au.
Please include:
- your rates account number and/or property address
- change effective from
- details that need updating, such as; new/correct customer name, new/correct address, new/correct contact number, and/or new/correct E-mail.
Receive your rates notice by email
If you would prefer to receive your rates notice by email, please email us at dwc.rates@nt.gov.au and provide:
- your rates account number or property address
- your preferred email address.
Once registered, future rates notices will be sent to your nominated email address.
Rate searches and copies of rates notices
The following fees apply for rate searches and requests for copies of rates notices:
- Reprint of rates notice – current rating year: $11.00
- Reprint of rates notice – prior rating years: $30.00
- Rate search – per property: $70.00
Payment is required in advance before your request can be processed.
