When a charming first-grade teacher starts at a prep school, she captures the heart of ambitious teenager Max, who falls for her instantly. Seeking guidance, Max turns to the father of two classmates for help in winning her affection. Anderson’s wickedly funny second feature provided career defining roles for Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray, who would become his frequent collaborators; and has been selected for preservation by the US National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.
