Twenty-seven year-old Naomi Boyd and husband James, 29 packed up the rug rats to experience a taste of life down under.

Taking part in the BBC production Wanted Down Under, Naomi said this was the perfect opportunity to see if they could afford to emigrate from Scotland to Australia.

Visiting the Wave Lagoon today the Boyds were surprised to hear the Darwin Waterfront Precinct only opened two months ago.

“This facility is great, the parks and surroundings are beautiful and the Wave Lagoon price is so affordable – we are coming back again before we leave,” the Boyds said.

Mr Boyd, a disability support worker, said he loved the Australian weather and laid back lifestyle, commenting that Australians seem to make time for work and play.

A qualified nurse, Mrs Boyd, said Scotland was cold and wet.

“In the winter you go to work in the dark and it is dark again by the time you return, we are enjoying all this sunshine and swimming here today is fantastic,” she said.

While in Darwin the Boyds will look at house prices, jobs, and recreational facilities.

Naomi, James and their two children Cieran and Dylan return to Scotland next week where they will be required to decided whether to emigrate to Australia or not.

Wanted Down Under series four is scheduled to air on the BBC from January 2010.
