New Bus Service Underway
Minister for Transport Gerry McCarthy today travelled on Darwin’s newest bus service that will service Cullen Bay, Bayview and the Darwin Convention Centre.
The new bus service is a NT Government initiative and delivers on the election commitment promised in 2008.
“The new bus service will cover the Cullen Bay business and residential area, providing a valuable link to the incoming and outgoing ferry service, Mr McCarthy said.
“I would like to acknowledge the representations of the Member for Daly Rob Knight MLA who strongly put forward the wishes of his constituents from the Cox Peninsula to obtain such a service.
“A new service will also be extended to provide public transport options to the Bayview residential area, as well as Tipperary Waters, Frances Bay and onto the Convention Centre.
“The Northern Territory Government is committed to extending and improving the Territory bus network and public transport use.
“These new services highlights this commitment and complements our ongoing support for Territorians in providing free public bus travel for seniors, pensioners, carers and students.
Timetables and route maps are available at www.nt.gov.au/publictransport or by phoning 8924 7666 weekdays from 6.45 am to 4.30 pm or between 9 am to 1 pm on Saturdays.
